Walking the streets

Making music takes me to some wonderful parts of the world. India is such a colorful place. Sometimes it felt like I was stepping back in time. Here are some shots I took as I walked around the ancient city of Madurai.

Visit to a Temple

The are so many amazing sites in India. I was fortunate to have some site seeing time to visit this historic temple in Southern India. It was built around the 17th Century. What a site! (click on photos to enlarge)

Colorful ceiling...

Me, checking it out...(Aparantly each pillar makes a different musicial note when struck)

the temple has thousands of hand crafted posts...

As you can see each post has special carvings...

I realised that there was so much going on...

I spotted an elephant...

Time for a coconut

One day, before my evening concert in Southern India, I was walking down the street when I was appoached by a man with an axe.

It was a big axe...( I don't know what he was saying but his mates looked at the axe then looked at me and started laughing)

The axe man told me I needed to buy a coconut from him...

So, without arguing, I gave him the cash and drank up...

The axe man wanted his picture taken. So I kept smiling...(trying not to notice where the blade was pointing)

And I made sure he was happy with the photo...

"See," I said. "We got your best side. And the best side of your axe..."

You don't mess with an axe man...

Driving in India

One of the most interesting places in the world to visit is India.

Over 1 Billion people live there- THAT'S 1 IN EVERY 6 PEOPLE!

I hope you enjoy going there with me in my blog. Touring India is so much fun!

The first thing to notice is that driving is a little different to back home...

Encounter India- To watch a video of driving in India click here

The only thing missing from this picture is the sound of everyone's horns. (Oh...and a white line down the middle of the road!)

There are many ways of gettin' around the streets of India. The king of the road is the rickshaw...

The guy in front is riding in style in a bicycle powered rickshaw...

These guys prefer old style...

Here's my friend Sunil showing off his preferred method of travel. Great for taking his lady friend on a date...

This is a shopping center car park or- we should say- bike park. Just dont forget where you parked!

Back to School

Music has the power to build bridges between people of all nations.
Here I am singing at a school in Southern India.
I showed up and was greeted by these happy faces...

Then I was introduced to a captive audience...

Luckily they gave me the thumbs up...

An Aussie singer with American musicians singing "Jamaican me Crazy"
to Indian students! Many colors - One world...

Afterwards I made some new friends...

Signed a few autographs...

And waved goodbye...
